The Waterloo Police Department office is not manned 24 hours, at times the officer on duty is on patrol. If you are in need of assistance you may call the Douglas County Communications 911 center, non emergency 444-5802 or emergency 911. an officer will be dispatched to your location. It is very important to stay at the call location until the officer arrives.

Village of Waterloo history

In 1859 John C. Weston made the first settelement in the area, approximately 1 mile west of The current day Village of Waterloo. Soon after a mill was built along the Elkhorn river near present day A Ave. and Lincoln Ave. The settlement moved to the present location and flourished.

Waterloo was incorporated as a town in 1883, and was the first to do so in western Douglas County. Although there were Town Marshals before , Offically upon incorporation, John H. Campbell became the towns first Constable, and the police department was established.

 Waterloo has continued to thrive as a community, which has shown with a steady population increase. Waterloo's current population of approximately 840 is expected to grow.  Waterloo enjoys quality restaurants such as Farmer Browns, Elbees, and the Firebarn Sportsbar.
